The University of Georgia has unveiled the Black-Diallo-Miller Residence Hall, marking the first newly constructed residence hall on campus since 2013. This building pays tribute to Harold A. Black, Mary Blackwell Diallo, and Kerry Rushin Miller, who were the inaugural African American students to enroll as freshmen and successfully complete their undergraduate studies.

This six-story structure spans 120,500 square feet and accommodates 525 students in double occupancy rooms. The design allows for flexibility, enabling students to rearrange and personalize their in-room furniture layout according to their preferences. Each bedroom is equipped with large windows, built-in closets, and individual climate control systems. The residence hall also features community bathrooms that enhance privacy, situated in each hall or wing of the building. The architectural design emphasizes efficient space utilization while aligning with the university’s dedication to balancing student requirements with affordability.

The newly constructed student residence offers improved facilities aimed at enhancing the overall experience for students and fostering personal development. These features include communal lounges and study spaces that facilitate academic achievement, an outdoor courtyard, laundry facilities, and shared kitchens for community use. Socium executed the painting and fabric panel work for their general contractor client.
